Last month Ireland's Dumb Posh Hippies released their infectious psych-punk track 'Scrunched Up Fist'.
Kicking off a new chapter for Dublin trio Dumb Posh Hippies, 'Scrunched Up Fist' is as relentless as it is infectious. With their own blend of psych-influenced punk, Dumb Posh Hippies have been gaining fans across stages in Dublin and I can believe that these guys are putting on some high energy shows. The bands new single 'Scrunched Up Fist' is one that packs a punch and is a strong start to what will be a new chapter for the trio.
"This is definitely one of the most outright punkers we have, probably. 'Scrunched Up Fist' was literally written in the jam room in ten minutes. Matthew and James were just playing this thing as I was coming back from a smoke, and I knew I had lyrics in my phone that would work with it. Added some guitar but not much, and it was donezo." - (Ciarán Fitz, Vocals & Guitar)
The first thing I noticed when listening to this single is how infectious it is, from the bouncy bassline to the energetic vocal melody it's just so addictive. Unlike a lot of punk tracks it's not just loud in your face noise, it builds and is fully packed with an upbeat melody that has more of an alt rock feel to it. The fuzzy guitars definitely cement in that alt rock sound I'm hearing which fully complements the bands psych-punk style. I'm a huge fan of this track and how it's repetitive but also constantly evolving as it goes on, growing with guitars and the vocals getting gradually louder and more aggressive. At times this one reminds me of artists like Frank Carter or even The Hara, it's an energetic track that needs to be listened to.
