Bristol rock trio Krooked Tongue released their warm and positive new single 'Ember Mile' last month.
Krooked Tongue give a glimpse into how it feels to finally get over that last hurdle, when it comes to songwriting with their recent single 'Ember Mile'. Krooked Tongue burst onto the scene back in 2022 with their critically acclaimed debut EP 'No Vacancy Hotel', which has amassed over 200,000 streams to date. Now fast forward to 2024 and the rock trio have hit achievements like playing their biggest support slot touring with Kid Brunswick, and have shared stages with many great artists including, False Heads, The Soap Girls and Mother Vulture. Finishing off the year the band have played a few shows and released a new single 'Ember Mile'.
"In a lot of ways 'Ember Mile' is the more positive cousin of 'Nothing Ever Grows'. It's a victory song. The cry of the inner battle when it comes to trying to create. The concept of 'Ember Mile' is something that I conjured up that embodied the electricity of a moment. To me it feels like the part of a movie where the hero finally knows what they have to do to save the day. Here comes the triumphant music and 80's montages. You could say it's our Rocky 4. I wanted this song to feel like an internal monologue, breaking the fourth wall and spitting back with a sarcastic tongue. 'Ember Mile' refers to a proverbial golden, fiery strip of road where the final idea awaits on the horizon. In my case it's referring to the final hurdle before finishing writing a song." - (Oli Rainsford, Vocalist & Lyricist)
Taking a positive over negative approach 'Ember Mile' has a warm feeling about it. In comparision to 'Nothing Ever Grows' this one is much less explosive and instead it sort of wraps around you like a blanket. I have become a huge fan of Krooked Tongue since discovering them earlier this year and all the things I love about them are present in this track, the driving drums, the strong alternative rock riff and the confidence of the vocals. Comparing it again to the three-pieces previous single this ones more melodic seeming to focus more on the rich vocals than the guitars. If you love big sounding alt rock bands then I think you should go and listen to Krooked Tongue.
