With their first release of 2025 Mother Vulture seem to be taking their sound in a much heavier and slightly darker direction. This is a band, who since the release of their debut album 'Mother Knows Best' in 2022, have been rapidly rising up the ranks. Known for their chaotic live show and their larger than life almost theatrical approach to alternative music Mother Vulture are a unique group. The four-piece have previously had features with Metal Hammer, Louder, Distorted Sound and Kerrang! described them as 'one of Britain's most exciting new noises'. With themes surrounding intense anxiety and self destructive tendencies, 'Slow Down' draws from darker areas of the human psyche, while lyrically it really focuses on indulging the inner demons.

"I wanted to use the lyrics to shine a light on the darker side of emotion, the way we sometimes want to flirt with self destruction and the temptation to fall from grace. It's darker than some of the other stuff we've written but it was fun to explore a new sound and get even heavier, both musically and lyrically - because the world gets too much sometimes, and you think something has to break." - (Georgi Valentine Ivanov, Vocalist)

This is a new single to be excited about, 'Slow Down' may take on a darker, heavier persona but Mother Vulture haven't lost their large chaotic energy. The guitar powered track is topped off by the unique vocals creating a sound that is so different to anything I've heard before. The heavy weight of the guitars is completely contrasted by the soaring rock vocals while the drums bring a modern alt energy like something you'd hear from the likes of Royal Blood. 'Slow Down' is everything that makes Mother Vulture great, a little crazy, insanely energetic, overly theatrical at times and completely new. I've liked these guys for a while (since I saw them live which I would highly recommend doing) but this shift in sound has me thinking they might make their way into my list of favourite bands.
