New song from Myriad 'Cascades', takes the serious issue of consent and pairs it with catchy guitar riffs and an upbeat rhythm.
'Cascades' by Myriad which will be available to listen to from the 7th of May 2021 is a song that talks about a serious issue but still manages to keep a fun, feelgood vibe. This song is part of a three track project which is focussed on speaking about gen-z issues such as transitioning into adulthood and everything that goes along with it. The project will also feature the songs '3AM' and 'Do You Know Where She Goes'.
"These songs cover some of the most important subjects facing 16-24 year olds today; consent, insomnia, motivation, and independance to name a few. "Cascades" takes the first concept of consent and discusses the safe and mutual understanding that young adults feel when exploring their relationships and sexuality. The narrative of "Cascades" is centered on a young person balancing their feelings with the ever-changing responsibilites of adulthood in 2021. The music, it's for an alternative community who feel alone and are going through tough times, especially now in the pandemic. Myriad have seen a gain in success since their previous release as their monthly Spotify listeners grew from 500 to over 10,000. With relatable songs such as this it really doesn't surprise me that they are growing and gaining a lot of fans. Speaking about issues that aren't really touched upon by a lot of artists and creating catchy songs to spread that message is very inticing. 'Cascades' is an enjoyable song that on first listen I really enjoyed just sitting bopping too, however to really hear the meaning I think I need to go and listen to it a few more times. If you like bands such as Two-Door Cinema Club or The Wombats then I would recommend checking these guys out!
