The Slime - Crab Walk

The Slime have released their next hardcore/thrash offering 'Crab Walk', as well as announcing an upcoming album.

Canadian hardcore/thrash band The Slime have announced their new album 'Crab-Walk To Oblivion', and are also giving fans a first taste with the single 'Crab Walk'. Delivering straight up fast and heavy music the Canadian outfit which formed in 2019 come complete with a slightly comical horror aesthetic. The Slime are making themselves known in the scene having previously performed with local Canadian legends Random Killing and Dayglo Abortions. The thrashers have been giving fans plenty to listen to as earlier this year they released the 'Trapped On Blood Island' EP, and now they are gearing up to release their full-length album in January of 2025.

The first single to come from the upcoming album 'Crab Walk' seems to put a bit of a silly twist on a scene from William Peter Blatty's 'The Exorcist'.

"Andy, our singer and lyricist, is a huge fan of The Exorcist movie and novel. The song developed from the initial drum-beat and, when jamming it, he came up with the lyric, "crab walk down the stairs". Of course, it's not a crab walk that Regan does down the stairs in the movie, it's a spider walk, and the scene isn't even in the theatrical cut." - (The Slime)

'Crab Walk' is in my opinion a fun way to be introduced to not only The Slime's upcoming album but for me the band themselves. It's an energetic hardcore track with a strong thrash influence. The song isn't even two minutes long but manages to give you plenty of time to bounce about and bang your head. The band don't waste a second and as soon as the horror intro is complete 'Crab Walk' slams in and doesn't let up until it ends.
